I just realized that when a baby steps into the toddler stage, they become more picky with food. They starts to pick what they just want to eat and rejects the other food that they don’t want and sometimes even throwing that food away.
I don’t know if it’s just my child or is it very common for children at this stage but mine is just very picky with her food.
Because of that, I keep on trying new different recipe just to encorporate vegetables or fruits that she does not like into the food.
My toddler for instance does not like eating sweet potato. I don’t know when this started but when we were still starting her weaning, she was very fond of sweet potato. She liked that it was very soft and liked it specially when it is mashed.
But after she started having her teeth, she also started to dislike soft or mashable food. So we tried giving her sweet potato baked sticks or made into chips/fries. Still she refused eating it.
So this time I tried making this recipe, mixing sweet potato with zucchini which is one of her favorite vegetable and making it into bread.
What you need…
- 1 sweet potato
- 1 zucchini
- 1 banana
- 3/4 cup whole oats
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cut milk
- 1 drop vanilla
- 1 egg
How you make it…

First prepare your sweet potato. I cut my sweet potato as it was to big. The sweet potato right here is just the size of my palm

Peel your sweet potato and cut it into cubes. You can make into much smaller size than this but I prefer mine like this.
Then boil this until soft. With this size. It took about 10 minutes until it became soft and easy to be mashed.

Prepare your zucchini and banana. Wash them clean.
I am using the banana to make the bread sweet.

Grate your zucchini. I chose the big grater size as compared to the fine grater as I want it to have texture.

Then mash your banana.

Mixed in your sweet potato, making sure it is already soft to be mashed.
Then mashed it together with your banana. You can also mash your sweet potato separately before mixing it.

Add vanilla

Then the grated zucchini

Add the 3/4 cup of whole oats

Then mix the ingredients first before adding the 1 whole egg.
You can skip the egg if your child is allergic to it.

Then add in the 1/4 cup of flour and partially mix it.

Add 1/3 cup of milk. I am using Alpro growing up oatmilk here.
I wanted to use whole milk as she is already on the milk ladder but I didn’t at that time because she still has some symtoms.
We were adviced by the dietician to pause the milk ladder if she is having symptoms then just go back with the step on the milk ladder again once the symptoms have stopped.

Then mix every until it comes to this consistency.
I have brushed some butter on the mold first before I put the mixture in.
In my child case, because she has CMPA, we have a separate butter for her. She is using a plant base butter. Which is what I have used here.

Bake it at 180 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes or until cooked.
Try sticking a toothpick and if it comes out clean, then it is cook.
Cool it a bit then can be serve to your baby.
